ROCCAT KULO 7.1 Surround Sound USB Gaming Headset with Noise Cancelling Mic - Black | PC, PS4, Xbox One Headphones for FPS, MOBA & Streaming

This is my 2nd pair. The first one broke after years and years of service (structural damage, plastic finally gave in).This particular item has a MAJOR flaw - no velvet ear pads, my 1st pair came with leather and velvet pads. The leather pads are just HORRIBLE (and yeh, i used caps for emphasis).Minor flaw - the stickiness of some plastic surfaces on this headset. Easily fixed by using old pants/boxers (wash them first, though) and 70% isopropyl alcohol.Other than that, great gaming headset ( i am an avid FPS player and use them a lot )Great fit for my small ears and very comfortable. However I was VERY displeased at how I received it. Item looked in great condition in sealed box but when I opened it the set was covered in sticky residue! Spent a lot of time cleaning it with alcohol wipes just so I could touch it!!The headset is great, the sound was nice and kept my ears very warm. I thought the microphone quality was pretty good as well but.....My ROCCAT Kulo 7.1 is not even a year old yet and the microphone on the headset seems to be crapping out on me already. Its making a lot of static noise on its own and I can't seem to do anything about it.I liked the headset, very unfortunate that it went out like this.I thought if I spent the money for a quality headest I would get quality. I am an older woman so not rough or a heavy user of the headset. I found them very uncomfortable but hoped I would get used to them. I wore them maybe 5 times in the past few months and then bought a desktop so over past 2 days used them more frequently. Well the microphone has totally gone out on it with no reason for it. Since I am beyond the time Amazon will take it back I guess I am destined to pay big bucks for a crappy headset. NOT PLEASED! Anyone know how to replace the microphone wiring or want to buy a headset that don't work?The second I opened these I noticed a concerning coating of something incredibly sticky on the rubberized plastic pieces just above the actual ear pieces. Not sure if it’ll actually come off and concerned about the amount of damage/fluid needed causing damage in order to remove it.Mic can come in a little blurry, but audio quality is superb.These headphones snapped off at the ear piece just from the normal stress of stretching them open to place on my head. They are very poor quality and the customer support is even worse. The customer support is non-responsive. Replaced with the HyperX headphones and the difference in quality is like night and day. Do not buy these headphones!I really didn't like this headphones, it make too much pressure on in the ears and the cushions keep falling.I definitely recommand those for the audio which is great.On the comfort side I think there is still room for improvements. Main complaint is that this headset is too tight and it press to much on ears wich is irritating in long sessions. I noted however that you can loose them a little bit by overstretching the headset (don't worry, it won't break: it's premium material made). Ofc this is disappointing as I expected them to be "ok" out of the box. I use the alternative earpads included. The standard ones are crap, forget about them. The soundcard it works well on windows and linux alike. On windows just remember to first download and install drivers from roccat and only then then plug in the soundcard for the first time. If you do the opposite the microsoft drivers will install for the card and most of the time the card will work only in stereo mode. If it happens to you just uninstall the microsoft drivers. Without them the roccat driver will always be loaded enabling you to use the virtual 7.1. So... yea I recommand those if you need external virtual 7.1. If you already have a soundcard with 5.1 or 7.1 (or you wanna buy, the internal ones are cheap) just go for the other roccat headset the kave. Although a little more expensive I think is better value for the money: it has 3 of these wanderful 40mm drivers on each side. Having heard how well you hear with only one on kulo I somehow regret not having opted for that other setup.These headphones will solve your problemsThey are comfortable and lightweight and the microphone give a really good sound quality.the microphone Is easy to mute by just put the boom in it's upright position.The Headset comes with two 3.5 Contacts and a USB 7.1 Surround dongle.So if you feel the need you can just go with it without the USBI picked this headset due to sound card problems so I needed an External sound card, as a pleased roccat customer of the Kave 5.1 (A beauty but heavy) I decided to give this a try and I have been very pleased.It comes two pairs of with easy detachable ear cups so you can swap for whatever you feel is most comfortable.The surround sound works great in games. but I suggest you download Roccats handy "Driver" to get the most out of the headsetHighly recommended.Ps.
