Motorola 53725 VOX Headset for TALKABOUT Radios - Hands-Free Communication for Outdoor Adventures

Using headphones for comm sus in church and they perform well within a fairly high app environment.Good product at a good price.I use these to officiate at athletic events and communicate with other officials. I have done 400 to 500 events that take hours at a time. Sometimes I will do as many as 9 games in a weekend. I have found that ear buds, or ear pieces that hang off you ear can be extremely uncomfortable after hours of use. I never have that problem with these. So I actual buy the radios that match these headsets, instead of getting headsets to match the radio. I also like pushing a button on the radio to talk with these, rather than having to find a microphone on my collar and lifting it to speak. That leaves one hand free to make notes while speaking.Some people and athletic associations do not like these because they are more visible than other alternatives. However, they fit nicely under a cap if that is allowed without harming comfort. The boom can be adjusted so that you can change ears for the speaker.The earpiece has soft foam so that it does not hurt the ear after hours of use. However, after time the foam may rip or tear causing one to buy another one. At this price, that is a minor drawback to pay for the extra comfort these provide.Be careful to match the headset to the actual radio you have purchased. This headset does not work with all radios.The headset I received was the 53725 (I am not sure what the SLK means?) So it is compatible with the following 2-Way Radios: Motorola Talkabout MU, MS, MT, MR, MJ, MH Series it is not compatible with the MD Series or the FV300. I have a MS350 Series set and at first in the VOX mode the headset seemed to not release and let the other person talk, even if you waited for the sound. It did let you talk back and forth if you used PTT button. Then just through trial and error making sure the two radios were set up the same in all modes we discovered that the headset did work in VOX if we turned off the Call Tone, Keypad Tone (it looks like a musical note on the screen). Once we did that we could talk back and forth on the headset, in VOX (hands free) as long as you wait to hear the release tone from the other person talking before you start talking. Also we noticed that the first word is sometimes dropped or not understandable, so we have decided that when communicating we will start every sentence with the word "Okay" Then we could commuciate just fine. Hope this helps someone else that is trying to use this headset.First of all, i loved this item. I got it 3 days after ordering it and immediately opened the package. when i took it out i looked like a OK sturdy, but yet uncomfortable piece of equipment. Boy was i wrong, it is really sturdy and extremely comfortable the only reason i give this a 4 instead of a 5 is when i tested it using my 5-6 year old Motorola MH230 2-way radios the VOX appeared and worked. but when i stopped talking it took 1.5-2 sec. to give the "over" beep, which enables the person on the other end to start talking. I'm an airsoft player and this product seems very useful and will someday show itself on the battlefield. definitely recommended.I wanted to buy a headset with a swivel boom microphone so I could use my phone and remain hands free while driving,working in my office or simple going outside to take the dogs for a walk.This device gives me all that I wanted and a bit more. It is easy to use, the swivel boom microphone allows me to adjust it to a comfortable position while speaking.I recommend a headset like this one to anyone interested in having a completely hands free operation.The only suggestion I want to offer is make sure to get the correct size jack for what ever you use it with. I had to find an adapter for mine, but that was easy too.Lots of luck, have fun and enjoy a great productA good product but I would like an in-line PTT button on the cord for easier operation. Using the PTT button on the Motorola MR350R radio is not always convenient and VOX control is a joke. I have never liked VOX operation - I am an amateur radio operator and VOX gets in the way of smooth communications. It can also allow a frequency to "lock up" because of background noise taking over. Only 4 stars because of the "missing" PTT button.You may know that Motorola has a plug on their headsets that is a little longer than standard, so you can't use off the shelf headsets. I bought these so that my walkie talkies could be used while bike riding (I am in a tropical developing world country.. so cell phones are expensive). The headsets work perfectly and allows the VOX feature to be used on the radios, thus keeping both hands free (nice for hiking or working).I do wish they were more ruggedly constructed, but I really cannot complain... they were a pretty good price and meet my needs.This headset works exactly as stated. It is sturdy and works with my push/talk (PTT) button for an encrypted tactical radio. For the price, it works for me. There are a lot better quality headsets, bone mics, throat mics out there and are hugely expensive. The quality of transmission and reception are acceptable. If you are standing next to someone shooting without a suppressor, it is not acceptable. There is very little to no hearing protection. The shipping was fast. Vox works fine on radios without headsets. I do not recommend this productＭＢ１４０Ｒ（１０'XＰ３−２）１６Kｍ（１０マイル）には、まったく使えませんでした。PTTスイッチが無いので購入時注意してください。説明書の絵には、トランシーバーのPTTスイッチを押して使用する見たくなっていますが、その使い方だと意味が無いような・・・。BOX機能でも使用できるのかな？使える機種のシリーズが限られているみたいなので確認したほうが良いみたいです。いずれにしろＭＢ１４０Ｒには、使えません。
